The Sintonia project was conceived in 2007. The Company was initially established by the Benetton family, which contributed all its most important participations in the infrastructure sector.

The Company set the objective to raise additional capital for up to Euro 4 bln by opening its equity to a limited number of partners that would also be instrumental to the sourcing of investment opportunities or would contribute strategically important assets.

As of today, three new partners have joined Sintonia:

  • Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners (from Jan-08)
  • Mediobanca (from Jan-08)
  • GIC - Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (from Apr-08)

The new partners committed to subscribe capital increases in the Company for a total amount of Euro 1,686 million. As at December 31, 2011 Euro 1,464 million had already been contributed and Euro 222 million remained still to be drawn by the Company at any time.

In the long term, the Benetton family intends to retain not less than 50.1% of the Company.
