Jean Hoss  /  Chairman

Jean Hoss, doctor at law, became a member of the Luxembourg Bar in 1961, and was one of the founders of the firm Elvinger & Hoss in 1964. He was President of the Luxembourg Bar (Bâtonnier) in 1991-1992. He has been a lecturer at the "Université libre de Bruxelles" and at the "Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg". He is also a member of the "Institut Grand-Ducal, Section des Sciences Morales et Politiques", as well as vice chairman of the "Fondation du Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean" and chairman of the foundation in charge of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra. He is the author of articles among others in the field of tax law. His main areas of activity are banking, commercial, financial, corporate and tax law as well as property law.

Stefano Cao  /  Chief Executive Officer

Born in 1951 in Rome, Stefano Cao holds a degree in mechanical engineering. He has been CEO of Sintonia since February 2009. He spent 24 years at Saipem Spa, the international oil and gas services group, most latterly as Chief Operating Officer and then Chairman and Chief Executive. Stefano left Saipem in 2000 and joined Eni where he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Exploration & Production Division from 2000 to 2008. At present he is a Director of Atlantia S.p.A., Autostrade per l'Italia S.p.A, Gemina S.p.A., Aeroporti di Roma S.p.A., Sagat S.p.A., Aeroporti Holding S.r.l., and Aeroporto di Firenze S.p.A.

Alessandro Bertani  /  Director

Born in 1966 in Rho (Italy), Alessandro Bertani has a degree in Business Administration. He was engaged in Mediobanca S.p.A. since January 1992, where he started his career at the Servizio Partecipazioni e Affari Speciali (SPAS) first as an Official in 1995, then as a Manager in 2000, and as a Deputy Director since 2006 to present times. He is also a Director of Burgo Group S.p.A. since 2000, of ASA - Autostrade Sud America S.r.l. since 2006, of Sintonia S.A. and of Schemaventotto S.p.A. since 2008. He is also an Executive Board Member of IEO - Istituto Europeo di Oncologia S.r.l. since 2005.

Carlo Bertazzo  /  Director

Born in 1965 in Monselice (Padova), Carlo Bertazzo has an economics degree from Ca' Foscari University in Venice. He has been the CFO of Edizione since 1995. His professional career began with Banca Commerciale Italiana (Comit) in 1990, and continued with IFI - Istituto Finanziario Industriale from 1991 till 1994

Gilberto Benetton  /  Director

Born in 1941 in Treviso, in 1965 Gilberto Benetton set up the Benetton Group together with his sister Giuliana and brothers Luciano and Carlo. The Group is world leader in the apparel industry and today operates in some 120 countries. He is chairman of Edizione S.r.l., the family holding company, chairman of Autogrill S.p.A., and a Director of Benetton Group, Mediobanca S.p.A., Atlantia S.p.A., Pirelli & C. S.p.A., Allianz S.p.A. and Sintonia S.A. He presides over all financial and property investments undertaken by the family holding company. A keen sportsman, he is the promoter of Group sponsorships in rugby, basketball and volleyball. Through the Benetton Foundation he created Treviso's sports centre La Ghirada.

Sergio Erede  /  Director

Sergio Erede is one of the founding partners of Bonelli Erede Pappalardo, Italy's leading general practice law firm. In addition to his legal practice, he sits on the Board of Directors of a variety of companies, several of them listed, including Interpump Group, Luxottica, Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (Vice-President). Mr Erede graduated with honours from the University of Milan in 1962 and obtained an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1964. He worked with Hale & Door in Boston from 1963 to 1964, and then with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. From 1965 to 1969 he was head of IBM Italia's legal department and in 1969 he started his own law firm.

David Kerr  /  Director

David Kerr holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is presently Senior Vice President of GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd ("GIC SI"), which he joined after three years with Deutsche Bank, as a Managing Director for infrastructure in their asset management division. Prior to that, he spent his career in the engineering and construction industry, last at Bechtel Enterprises, the infrastructure investment and financing arm of Bechtel Group. He has held board and steering committee positions on Lima Airport, London Luton Airport, Maher Terminals, Curacao Airport, A1 Motorway Poland, Tallinn Water & Wastewater and Sofia Water & Wastewater.

Philippe Lenoble  /  Director

Born in November 1971 in Brussels, Philippe Lenoble has a degree in engineering and management from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) and is a CFA charterholder. He has been a Board Member of Sintonia since January 2009. After a stint as a research assistant at UCL, Philippe worked at Citibank in London for four years, mainly in their European Securitisation Group. He then joined Goldman Sachs in November 2001 where he currently is a managing director in their Infrastructure Investment Group and a member of Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Investment Committee. In addition, Philippe also serves as a permanent observer on the Board of Directors of Budapest Airport Zrt.

Gianni Mion  /  Director

Born in 1943 in Vò (Padua), Gianni Mion has a business degree from Ca' Foscari University in Venice. He is a chartered accountant and auditor and has been CEO of Edizione S.r.l. since 1986. His professional career began with KPMG as auditor and continued with McQuay Europa S.p.A. as controller. In 1974 he joined Gepi S.p.A., where he became deputy general manager in 1980. He was CEO of Fintermica S.p.A. from 1983 to 1985, before joining Marzotto S.p.A. as chief financial officer until 1986. At present he is a Director of Autogrill S.p.A. (since 1995), Benetton Group S.p.A., Atlantia S.p.A., Luxottica Group S.p.A., Burgo Group S.p.A. and Sintonia S.A.

Karl Pardaens  /  Director

Karl Pardaens was a member of the Brussels Bar from 1999 to 2008. He joined Elvinger, Hoss & Prussen in April 2005. He was admitted to the Luxembourg Bar under his home title in May 2005 and became Avocat à la Cour of the Luxembourg Bar in May 2008. He became a partner in 2007. Prior to joining Elvinger, Hoss & Prussen, he worked as an associate with the Brussels office of two major international law firms. His principal fields of activity are corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, financial and securities law. He obtained his law degree from the "Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve" (Belgium) and a "Masters of Arts degree" in Applied European Studies from the "Fachhochschule Mainz" (Germany) and the S.B. University of London (United Kingdom).

Gustave Stoffel  /  Director

Born in 1953 in Luxembourg, Gustave Stoffel has a degree in business administration. He started his career at the Commissariat au Contrôle des Banques (financial supervisory authority), now Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, CSSF in Luxembourg, and then held various positions at several banks in Luxembourg, last as a member of general management at Société Européenne de Banque (a subsidiary of Banca Commerciale Italiana, now Intesa Sanpaolo). He was the General Manager of Edizione Finance International and Sintonia until early 2008. Currently he is the CEO of Profida Luxembourg S.A., a company authorized by CSSF active in domiciliation and fund administration, specialized in private equity funds.

Alex Sulkowski  /  Director

Alex is the former managing partner of Atoz. He retired in July 2009 but is still active as of counsel for Atoz and as a Board Member of our international network Taxand. Alex held senior executive positions in Ernst & Young and Andersen. Amongst others, he was in charge of the Belgium and Luxembourg Tax & Legal practices in Andersen's, a group of 550 professionals advising clients in many different industries. He brings over 25 years of experience in many different fields including corporate structures, tax litigation, M&A and corporate finance. He is a member of a number of key industry bodies and was educated in Luxembourg, Germany and the US.
